Take A Tour Of An Off Grid Cabin: Surviving on 800 Square Feet and No Solar Power

Ever dream of going off the grid? That’s exactly what this family did. Meet Doug and Stacy, my new favorite YouTubers. Take a tour of their off-grid cabin and see how they survive.

This couple was sick and tired of city life, and decided to go back to ye old ways by living off the grid on their very own homestead. This homestead is 100% self-sufficient. They built it from the ground up, they have no plumbing and no power. They survive using natural resources: Water, natural sunlight, and fire from candles and wood. Their food comes from their backyard, and their medicine comes from herbs. Follow their journey on YouTube: OFF THE GRID with DOUG and STACY.

Take a tour of their Off-Grid Cabin, and how they survive on 800 Square Feet and No Solar Power:

Here’s a preview of some of the cool things you might have seen lying about their cabin:

  • A basket of fresh eggs for protein alongside a bucket of sawdust for the compost toilet (details)

  • An old school water pitcher for hand washing next to their icebox insulated by a quilt

  • A mortar and pestle for creating tinctures and other natural living essentials

  • A collection of best practical books for homesteading

These are the best books for homesteading, as recommended by Doug and Stacy:

  • Nourishing Traditions by Sally Falon (click to preview)
  • The Encyclopedia of Country Living by Carla Emery (click to preview)
  • The Self-Sufficient Life and How To Live It by John Seymour (click to preview)

Pretty cool huh? We plan on following more of Doug and Stacy’s off-grid journey, so stay tuned for more videos. Here’s our next feature: Meet Doug & Stacy, and what you can expect for 2016.
