How to Make An Herbal Tincture

Being a homesteader, you should know how to utilize everything around you. In my case, I grow a lot of herbs around the homestead. There are so many things you can do with herbs, one I recently discovered is herbal tincture. It’s a great home remedy you can make and easily prepare. So if you want to find out how to make one, read on, it’s only 4 easy steps.

What you’ll need to make an herbal tincture:

  • valerian root
  • vodka
  • container jar
  • bowl
  • cheese cloth
  • strainer
  • funnel

ALWAYS use the highest quality, purest, organic ingredients.

Step 1. Prepare your ingredients.

Fill half of the jar with herb and pour vodka until it reaches the first line of the lid ring. Don’t forget to stir.

Step 2. Tincture Process.

Label and store the mixture for 6 weeks. Stir or shake the mixture for the first week on a daily basis then let it sit for the remaining 5 weeks.

Step 3. Strain and squeeze.

Using your cheese cloth, strain your herbal mixture. You can squeeze the cheesecloth afterwards to make sure you get all the fluid out.

Step 4. Store and label.

Store in a jar or transfer into a small refillable bottle.

And you’re done! Store in a cool dry place for up to 2-3 years.
