How to Build a Treehouse

It’s every kids’ dream to have a treehouse. I can still remember the fun memories I had with my siblings growing up playing in our treehouse like it was yesterday. It was so much fun. In my opinion, if you have a big sturdy tree in your yard or homestead, it’s an opportunity for a woodworking project. So if you have kids or just want a nice place to hang out, build a DIY treehouse. It will be worth it!

What you’ll need to build a treehouse:

  • air pump
  • strings
  • helmet
  • ropes
  • rope box
  • hole saw
  • torpedo level
  • ratchet
  • breaker bar
  • chainsaw mill
  • meter
  • minimill
  • drill
  • hand gloves
  • safety glasses
  • ear muffs
  • welding machine
  • saw
  • tap and die set
  • ladder
  • strap
  • speed square
  • hammer
  • rubber mallet
  • crescent wrench
  • socket wrench
  • reciprocating saw
  • reveal square
  • crow bar
  • pencil
  • squangle
  • combination wrench
  • grinder
  • chain
  • axe

Materials:

  • tree
  • 3×8” wood
  • 3×6”wood
  • 1/2 inch plywood
  • 2×6 wood
  • 2×4 wood
  • sidings
  • plywood
  • metal roof
  • old window and door
  • hinges
  • lag bolts
  • bracket
  • washers
  • turnbuckle
  • nails
  • hurricane clips
  • cable clip
  • cable wire
  • farrells
  • spring
  • electric tape
  • pulley
  • strings

Step 1. Select and prepare the tree

Prepare tree bazooka and rope.

 

Step 2. Treehouse Foundation

Make the water pipe bracket. It’s very important that you do this part correctly since this is what will give support to your treehouse.

Step 3. Treehouse Flooring

Step 4. Treehouse Door

 

Step 5. Treehouse Wall and Window

Here is how the installation of wall was made.

 

Step 6. Treehouse Roof 

Building the rafters can be seen here.

Install the sidings and roof.

Step 7. Treehouse Railing

Railings are made of cable wire that has a 6″ spaces in between. Check here on how this was done.

 

Step 8. Treehouse Stairs

And you’re done! You and your kids can now enjoy your brand new treehouse!
