There's nothing like living in the heart of nature. The smell of the trees in the air, the feel of the wind on your face, the peace of world around you. Well, the grunge band producer Adam Kasper has found the perfect location, and he's calling it, “The House That Nirvana Built.” (source)
The House That Nirvana Built
Adam Kasper, you might not know the name if Seattle's grunge scene wasn't at the top of your list, but he is a record producer that has worked with legends like Aerosmith, Foo Fighters, R.E.M., and, of course, Nirvana. Yet even though he is known for putting his magic touch to many of grunge's most iconic songs, he has found himself an isolated home right in the heart of nature that he calls, “The House That Nirvana Built.” (source)
His 3,000 square foot home, that sits majestically on a 24-acre crop of land on Henry Island in Washington States Salish Sea, is the ideal retreat for any pioneer. The designer, Peter Bohlin, said that “…the house allows one to experience the temperature, the sights, and the smells of the island as you travel through the house.” (source) Yet comfort and a spectacular view weren't all that Adam had in mind. The house sits partially on stilts so it can tread as lightly as possible on the environment that it resides in.
If being on a secluded island off the coast of Washington State wasn't enough of a romance with nature, Adam and the site crew actually had to work carefully due to Native American archeological sites that were nearby. Due to the amount of burial sites from different tribes, the Kasper family, invited some of the tribe members to come to the site to get their approval as well as to the bless the process.
