Easy Sweet Potato Tots For Your Homestead
1. Basic Sweet Potato Tots
Ingredients and materials:
- 2 whole sweet potatoes
- 1/2 cup of flour
- ¼ teaspoon of sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon of paprika
- 1 whole beaten egg
- 1/3 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/3 teaspoon of pepper
Things needed:
- Cookie sheets
- Baking tray
- Baking sheet
- Knife
- Mixing bowl
- Boiling pan
- Egg beater
- Spoon
Instructions:
- Boil the sweet potatoes for 15 minutes. Then, remove the skin and grate them.
- Mix all the dry ingredients using a spoon and set it aside.
- Combine the grated sweet potatoes and the beaten egg in a bowl. Then, mix in all the dry ingredients until the texture is already creamy.
- Using your clean hands, create small scoops of the mixture. Then, deep fry small scoops for around 3 to 5 minutes.
- Transfer the sweet potato tots on a serving plate, and they’re ready to serve!
2. Sweet Potato Tots With Herbs
Ingredients and materials:
- 2 pieces of sweet potatoes
- 1/3 cup of parsley
- ¼ cup of rosemary
- 2 minced cloves of garlic
- ¼ tablespoon of pepper
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 tablespoon of rosemary
- ¼ tablespoon of onion powder
- ¼ tablespoon of salt
Things needed:
- Cookie sheets
- Baking tray
- Baking sheet
- Mixing bowl
- Whisk or stand mixer
- Boiling pan
- Grater
Instructions:
- Boil the sweet potatoes for 15 minutes, remove the skin and grate them.
- Mix the ingredients in a medium-sized bowl with a stand mixer. Keep mixing until the egg is completely absorbed by the other ingredients
- Using your clean hands, get some of the mixtures and shape them into small, cylindrical balls. Then, arrange them on a baking sheet and allow a two-inch distance between them.
- Set the oven for 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius), and bake the tots for around 20 to 24 minutes. Flip them halfway to bake them evenly.
- Let the sweet potato tots cool down, and transfer them on a serving plate. Ready to serve!

3. Super Cheesy Sweet Potato
Ingredients:
- 3 pieces of sweet potatoes
- 2 cups of parmesan cheese
- ½ cup of water
Things needed:
- Cookie sheets
- Baking tray
- Knife
- Fork
- Grater
- Mixing bowl
- Microwave-safe container
- Microwave-safe food wrap
- Food processor
Instructions:
- Peel and cube the sweet potatoes.
- Place the cubes on a microwave-safe bowl, and pour in the water to create some steam. Then, wrap the bowl with a microwave-friendly food wrap and toss it into the microwave.
- Using medium heat, set the timer for 15 minutes. You know your sweet potatoes are ready when you can pierce a fork right through it.
- Throw in the sweet potatoes into a food processor, along with 1 cup of grated parmesan cheese. Pause it a few times to create a chunky texture, not a puréed one.
- Using your clean hands, form small balls using the sweet potato mixture. Then, roll them onto some more parmesan cheese.
- Place the sweet potato balls into a cookie sheet. Bake them for 15 minutes, for 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Turn them once halfway through.
- Remove them from the oven, and serve them warm!
4. Salmon & Sweet Potato
Ingredients:
- 3 pieces of sweet potatoes
- ½ cup of minced sweet onions
- ¼ cup of minced scallions
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of chunked salmons
- 2 cups of panko bread crumbs
- 2 whole beaten eggs
- 3 cups of flour
- ¼ cup of soy sauce
Things needed:
- Cookie sheets
- Baking tray
- Knife
- Mixing bowl
- 2 frying pans
- Egg beater
Instructions:
- Peel and cube the sweet potatoes, and deep fry them in a large pan for the next 15 minutes. Then, transfer them into a bowl.
- In a medium-sized pan, fry the sweet onions and sprinkle some salt. Then, add in the salmon chunks.
- When the salmon is already cooked enough, add in the soy sauce. Keep stirring for around 5 more minutes.
- Transfer all the ingredients into a large bowl, and mix and mash them. Set it aside to cool down.
- In another medium-sized pan, throw in the bread crumbs. Keep stirring the crumbs until they are golden brown. Then, transfer the crumbs into a bowl and cool it down.
- Spread the sweet potato mixture into a large, baking sheet. Place it in the fridge for about 45 minutes. This will cool them down and make it easier for you to shape them into balls.
- Take a knife and cut the mixture into small, 1 1/2-inch sized squares. After, cover the squares into a bed of flour, dip it into beaten eggs, and then into the bread crumbs.
- Transfer all the sweet potato squares into a baking sheet. Make sure that they have at least an inch distance from each other.
- Pop the sweet potato tots into the oven for around 10 minutes. Set the heat to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
- Put the tots into a serving plate, and prepare some dipping sauces on the side.
5. Zucchini and Sweet Potato Tots
Ingredients:
- 2 sweet potatoes
- 2 medium-sized zucchinis
- ¼ cup of shredded cheese
- 1/8 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 2 tablespoons of paprika powder
Things needed:
- Cookie sheets
- Baking tray
- Nonstick cooking spray
- Mixing bowl
- Food processor
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Then spray your baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
- Peel the sweet potatoes and microwave it for around 3 to 5 minutes, until a fork can already pierce through it.
- Put the sweet potatoes and the zucchinis in a food processor to grate them.
- Transfer the zucchinis and sweet potatoes into a large bowl. Then, pour in the dry ingredients and mix them well until the mixture becomes creamy.
- Using your clean hands, form some mall balls with the mixture. After that, place them onto a baking sheet.
- Bake them for 20 minutes, for 375 degrees Fahrenheit (around 150 degrees Celsius). Remember to turn them once halfway through.
- Remove them from the oven, and cool them down a little bit. Serve them warm with your preferred dipping sauces!
