Superfood Series: Dark Chocolate

Reading Time: 2 minutes

November 20, 2024 By Elaina Garcia Leave a Comment

I know that we’ve all heard that too much chocolate (or that chocolate in general!) can be bad for you. There is some truth to that, but when it comes to dark chocolate, you’re actually eating healthy. It may seem shocking to some that dark chocolate is a superfood, but it’s true!

Why You Should be Eating Dark Chocolate

When searching the store for chocolate, try to find some that is at least 70% cacao or cocoa for optimal benefits. Chocolate this dark is loaded with antioxidants. These antioxidants neutralize free radicals that wreak havoc on our body, causing us to become sick. Antioxidants also protect the body from any further damage the radicals may cause. Dark chocolate even has the potential for cancer prevention! It’s good for cholesterol levels, improves cognitive function, and the flavanols present are amazing for heart health.

Here are 7 delicious recipes that call for the use of dark chocolate. Enjoy!
