How to Make Buttermilk With Just 2 Ingredients

What is Buttermilk?

Buttermilk is the lightly sour liquid that is left after butter has been made from milk or cream. The sourness of it comes from milk’s acid, which is lactic acid.

This kind of milk is slightly thicker than the regular milk, but not as thick as cream because its proteins are in curd form. It is also much lower in fat than regular cream and milk.”

Making homemade buttermilk is simple and cost-effective. Just combine a few ingredients that are most probably always handy or easy to find and the resulting product is as good as what you can buy at the grocery store.

Here’s the List of Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon

And Here Are the Tools We’ll Be Using Today:

  • knife
  • measuring cup
  • whisk
  • measuring spoon
  • bowl

How to Make Buttermilk Tutorial:

Step 1: Squeeze the Lemon

|

Cut your lemon in half and gently squeeze the lemon in a cup. Obtain just a tablespoon of it and set aside.

Step 2: Pour the Milk

|

Pour 1 cup of milk into the bowl.

Step 3: Add Lemon to Milk

|

In a mixing bowl, add the tablespoon full of lemon juice to your 1 cup of milk.

Step 4: Whisk Till It’s Mixed

|

Whisk the mixture in the bowl, then let set in room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes.
