Here is the original poem written by Forrest Fenn, featuring the original 9 clues to the treasure:
As I have gone alone in there
And with my treasures bold,
I can keep my secret where,
And hint of riches new and old.
Begin it where warm waters halt
And take it in the canyon down,
Not far, but too far to walk.
Put in below the home of Brown.
From there it's no place for the meek,
The end is ever drawing nigh;
There'll be no paddle up your creek,
Just heavy loads and water high.
If you've been wise and found the blaze,
Look quickly down, your quest to cease,
But tarry scant with marvel gaze,
Just take the chest and go in peace.
So why is it that I must go
And leave my trove for all to seek?
The answer I already know,
I've done it tired, and now I'm weak.
So hear me all and listen good,
Your effort will be worth the cold.
If you are brave and in the wood
I give you title to the gold.

Treasure hunting is a fun way to wrack the brain and get the mind motivated to go outside and explore. Forrest Fenn's intent was also to get people up off the couch and outside, and considering how hundreds of thousands have now sought out after the treasure, and there are now blogs and books dedicated to the search, Fenn has done an impeccable job. In fact, today has officially been declared official “The Thrill of the Chase Day” in Santa Fe New Mexico
This day is in honor of Forrest Fenn, and how his story has significantly impacted the Santa Fe community due to boosts in tourism, and from the sales of his books which he gives back to the local community and charities.
What a treasure indeed!

If you're into it, drop what you're doing and go seek the treasure! Its estimated value is at $2 million due to the historical value in many of the golden nuggets. They say it's filled with golden nuggets, sapphires, and rubies!
But at the end of the day, our real treasure is within, right?
I encourage you to do some research, do your exploring in a sustainable manner, and search wisely.
