Homesteading Hack for Carpet Cleaning
Let's be honest – vacuum cleaners don't always remove all the dust from carpets. There's always just that annoying thin layer stuck at the very bottom, right?
I remember when I lived with my parents on our little homestead, and we had a yearly routine of cleaning the carpets naturally twice a year, and it was fun! Most people, especially children hate cleaning, but I LOVED it! And it wasn't cause I got paid by my parents to do it, 🙂 I did it because I thought it was fun! No, I'm not crazy….
In the summer, we would take the carpets to the river, and my sister and I would simply play with it in the water. Fun and effective! All the dust would wash out while we played! That's killing two rabbits with one stone, my friends!
And just as the first winter's snow fell and covered the ground, turning it plain white, all of our neighbors would run out carrying their carpets. We would then lay them up-side-down on the snow and all of us would take a stick or thick twig and whack it all over. Then we would peel it off and admire the black square of dust left on the plain white snow!
At the end of the day, we would look out the window and the snow would be checkered with black squares! It was awesome, and the best way possible to get rid of dust in carpets. Try it for yourself next time it's great weather for swimming or enjoying some time in the summer, or the next time snow falls!
