Lesson 8: How to Make a Railroad Spike Knife | DIY Knife Making: Tapering Your Handle
In this lesson, we see Aram taking you through the next step of tapering your handle on your new spike knives. This step is important to taper the indentation that we made by setting our guard. So rather than have a large indentation between the handle and the blade, what we want to see is a gradual tapering from the handle into the blade, while still preserving the protection that the guard provides. This is a process that takes some time to get right but it's really not that difficult. Just pay attention to our master blacksmith, Aram, and you'll forging in no time!
